Powertransistors and amplifiermodules are developed to achieve certain characteristics like output power, 1 dB compression level, efficiency, IMD or ACPR. These parameters depend heavily on the load-impedance of the transistor or amplifier. A little less – but nevertheless important - is the dependency on the source-impedance of the transistor or amplifier. A typical Load-Pull (and/or Source-Pull) setup will characterize this dependency by measuring the power at the DUT at selectable impedance-points. Measurements can be done at the fundamental frequency or a harmonic. The DUT is measured with a constant modulation or under pulsed conditions (e.g. WCDMA).
Maury Microwave is offering a full spectrum of tuner solutions for these applications. Users have the choice between very fast and compact electronic tuners (0.3 GHz – 18 GHz) or mechanical tuners (0.25 GHz – 110 GHz) with a broad frequency range and a high VSWR (up to > 30:1). Models are available for coaxial as well as waveguide connection. A detailed description of a typical setup is ready for download below.
